Uganda Marathon

Run the Uganda Marathon for Send a Cow

We are excited to have two places up for grabs in the 2019 Uganda Marathon which takes place in May 2019. Whether you’re a seasoned runner looking for a new challenge or a complete beginner, the Uganda Marathon has something for you. With a 10k, half marathon or marathon there is a route to suit every ability.

Check out the Uganda Marathon video here.

The Race

The race is a chance to explore Uganda’s stunning scenery. You’ll be running alongside 5,000 others, with participants from across the globe. Each route - whether it’s the 10k, half marathon or marathon - will take you through the rolling hills and farms around Masaka, with views across to Lake Victoria.

There will be fuelling and water stations positioned throughout the route with medical support on hand to keep you hydrated under the warm Ugandan sun.

This race is all about soaking up Uganda - making the most of the amazing local support and the beautiful countryside - and for the keen runners out there it’s an opportunity to cross another of the world’s best marathons off your list.

The Trip

Sunday 26th May - Sunday 2nd June 2019

Sunday - Tuesday: Sunday you will be met at the airport and travel to your home for the week in Masaka. Acclimatisation days will be spent visiting the equator, exploring the local village and taking part in culture, art and language lessons.

Wednesday: One project visit day will be spent visiting our Ugandan Orphans Project in the Rakai District of Uganda. You’ll meet some of the families we work with an overnight stay in Kampala.

Thursday: KidsRunWild is a sports day hosted by Uganda Marathon and you, and is dedicated to the schools, orphanages and communities in Masaka.

Friday: The pool & pasta party is a chance to rest, feast and soak up the sun before the big day.

Saturday: Race day is your time to shine with everyone out to cheer you all the way to that finish line, where a cold beer and BBQ will be waiting for you.

Sunday: Sadly it’s time to head home or if you fancy extending your trip to explore Uganda a little more there is a whole host of adventures to choose from, including the famous gorilla trekking and some of the most underrated safaris in East Africa.

In return for taking one of our places in the race, we ask that you commit to fundraising a minimum of £1,000 that will go towards our Ugandan Orphans Project in the Rakai district of Uganda. Raising £1,000 could fund a dairy cow for an orphaned child-headed family, like Eddie’s. A dairy cow can provide over 3,000 litres of milk a year to a family, providing nutrition and a steady source of income from the sale of the surplus!

Once you have registered, Send a Cow’s experienced fundraising team and mentors will be on hand to provide all the support and advice you need to reach this. And one of the best parts of participants’ experience is seeing where your money will be going and meeting some of the children we have already helped.
