We caught up with Nishant, a member of our Royal Parks Herd, to ask him a few questions ahead of his half marathon challenge!
What inspired you to run for Send a Cow?
To raise funds in support of communities in Africa. I wanted to do something that had a connection with Africa; both my parents and late father in law were born and brought up in East Africa and I am personally very fond of this part of the world. We scattered my late dad’s ashes in Mombasa, Kenya at a port where he used to swim and I wanted to do something in his memory.
Will this be your first half marathon?
Yes, I was a sprint hurdler in my youth, now just trying to keep up!
Do you have any training tips for our other runners?
Eat less but frequently, have a liquid meal before a long run and leave at least an hour before heading out.
How much are you hoping to raise from the challenge?
I was hoping to reach around the £350 mark, but so far I've reached £405!
Do you have any fundraising tips for our other runners?
I sent a mass email to my work colleagues and then a follow up asking for their help, which eventually paid off. A compelling and honest story does help. I sent round pictures of my baby son and convinced colleagues to donate in the name of his cuteness!
